Alumni Visitors to
Hebron School
We warmly welcome all Alumni who wish to re-visit
Lushington or Selbourne (visitors to ‘old Hebron’ now CMS,
Coonoor are also welcome but should write directly to Mr. Horst
Kowski, Silverdale, CMS, Coonoor, Nilgiris 643 101, Tamil Nadu). All
visiters should write to the Principal in advance to
request permission for a visit.
Please also note the following points, all of which are
on an information sheet given to alumni on arrival.
Thank you,
Alastair Reid
Principal
GUIDELINES FOR
ALUMNI VISITORS
What
follows are some guidelines to assist you with your visit.
1.
Security: You
will need
to sign in at the gate at either Lushington or Selborne and obtain and
wear a visitor’s pass for the entire duration
of your visit. (You
probably already have a visitor’s pass). Please also sign
in at Reception which is normally open 8.30 a.m. – 5 p.m. so that the Principal (or VP) can be informed along with
the Alumni personnel, Mr Ian McCabe and Miss Olive Lillywhite.
2.
Permission: Please
do not presume anything! When
you arrive on either campus ,
in addition to contacting the Security
, Reception ,
& Alumni Personnel , please
introduce yourself to the Principal or his Deputy in his
absence , to ask permission to
be on site. I am sure they will say ‘yes’ but it is polite to ask (and we
do need to know for security/emergency/fire reasons)! To enter any Dorm you must ask the
relevant Dorm Parent in advance.
Please do not presume you can invite out a current student or join
a Dorm activity – and please don’t be upset if they have to say ‘no’. As a
courtesy , alumni must report
their presence at the gate at either Selborne (and ask for Mr. & Mrs. Dodds) or Lushington if
they arrive again after normal hours ( 6 p.m. – 8.30 a.m. ) to state the purpose of their
visit and to contact the member of staff who they wish to see.
3.
Travel: This
of course , is your own
responsibility. For insurance reasons we cannot convey you in school
vehicles unless it is part of an organised trip for former students.
Current students may not ride in vehicles driven by alumni unless given
permission by the Principal or
Vice- Principal . If you have
your own vehicle , please park
it on the edge of the titch pitch.
4.
Accommodation: Please do not ask to stay in a Dorm or
with staff. We don’t like to
say ‘no’ but it will put extra pressure on busy folk and so I shall say
‘no’ on their behalf!
5.
School
Policies:
Please respect and observe school
rules and show sensitivity to the standards of behaviour expected of
students , whilst on site or
with Hebron
students , even
when in town. These include
being sensitive to our dress code
, appearance and jewellery regulations , pocket money
, etc.
Obviously smoking ,
drinking alcohol or using proscribed substances are banned at all times.
Any student found breaking school rules in the company of or in collusion
with alumni will be duly disciplined. Alumni whose presence is not considered
conducive (alumni
return- December 2005) to
the well being of the school may be requested not to visit the school campus and
may be requested to leave by the Principal or designate.
6.
Times:
The
best time to visit school is after lessons ( 3.50 p.m. ) and weekends. Current students may be
taken out with permission from the Principal . Please make sure that such outings
do not affect normal school routines. These are also subject to
instructions on the parents’ consent form unless you have a letter from
parent concerned.
7.
Meals:
You
may have lunch at school by buying a Lunch Coupon from Reception (Before
10 .30 am on the day). This
entitles you to lunch in the Staff Dining Room – please do not join the students in the
main hall as this would create difficulties for the seating arrangements
and the provision of food.

8.
In
conclusion:
We
welcome your visit and would ask that you share positive experiences with
Hebron
students and do not foster negative ones. Mrs. Dodds and Mrs. Baron, in
particular , would value any
feed-back from you as a former student which they can share with present
leavers at the ‘leavers’ seminar.’
There is also an Alumni questionnaire which you will be given at
Reception. Please complete
this on your arrival. Some memorabilia (books
, mugs ,
scarves) are also on sale via Reception!
Thank
you for your understanding.
Every blessing,
Alastair Reid
Principal
